Cindy's Morning in Boston

September 22, 2002: I traveled to Boston on business and only had one day to visit friends and explore!

I had breakfast with my friend Tari, then we went to the Harvard Square area. This is Tari in her element (at the ceramics shop where she paints). You can see two of her cat mugs at her side.

This is a shot of the Harvard Square area -- just in front is a cool bookstore. University buildings are to the right.

And yes, I did see the "Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe" offices (for NPR's Car Talk show).

This is a picturesque church on the Harvard campus. As you can see from this photo, there are tourist trolleys all over.

Instead of a trolley, I took the "T" (subway train) to various spots in the city.

At $1 per token, it's pretty cost-effective. This was the first time I've ever been on a subway by myself (there aren't a lot of them in Wyoming or even around the western half of the U.S.).

I ended the morning in Boston Common (the oldest public park in the U.S.), at the start of The Freedom Trail. This is the visitor information center at the start of the trail.

See the red line painted on the sidewalk? You just follow it as it winds for 2.5 miles through the city -- I went about halfway, to Paul Revere's house, then back.

I took a quick detour for a geocaching adventure, then I headed back to walk the trail. (click to see more photos)
