Ferrying to Whidbey Island
October 2002
We took a ferry over to Whidbey Island, for a day of geocaching and sightseeing.
Here I am, standing on the forward deck, trying to keep my shirt from blowing away.
Jeff was at the other end of the small outdoor area on the Kittitas ferry.
We're getting closer to Whidbey Island here (just a 20 minute ferry ride).
It's windy up front (as you can see from my ballooning shirt)
Inside, it's a different story. Jeff grabbed a cup of coffee (was it a latte?) from the snack bar.
There are many seats inside (this was just a small part of the seating).
The vehicles are all below. Aurie stayed in the car while we went up (some people just wait in their cars).
It was a cloudy morning, but we could still see many of the San Juans from the ferry. No whales, though, just sea gulls.
Getting closer...
...and then pulling in to the dock. We were off on that small highway after about 5 minutes.
