Tame Caches

Excursions to: not-so-wild caches in Maple Valley (South King County)

Drive-by Caching

This was an interesting geocache -- we drove down a road, collecting clues at various coordinates (while we drove). Once we collected the information, we ended up at a roadside park (really the access point to a river trail).

The Cedar River was really rushing by. We've had lots of rain the past few weeks, and many rivers have flooded.

You can see that the bank was cut away from the tree roots here.

Cindy found the cache beneath a moss-covered log.

A Moste Wilde Cache, in a not so wild setting

We had to do some prep work for this one -- which mostly meant that we had to know the name of an Oscar Wilde play (we did).

This was a public park near many houses. The lake was small, but there were several ducks (and one goose) there.

There were a few picnic shelters, so we decided to stop for lunch.

Here's Cindy unpacking our food.

Can you believe that these picnic shelters have sinks with faucets?! There were also two tables, two grills, and a roof (which we appreciated, since it was raining).

Aurie had fun wading, and the ducks didn't seem to mind her presence.

A seagull enjoyed its perch on an old wharf piling.
