A Pit Near Richmond Beach
January 5, 2003
Excursions to: the Shoreline community, north of Seattle
Sandpit, an old sand quarry
Before descending down into the brambles and scrubbrush, we took in the beautiful view. A ridge of high pressure was moving into the area, pushing the clouds back (so it got sunnier as the day went on).

We were at the bottom of the pit, knowing we had to somehow trudge through the brambles to a tree about 80 yards above us...when Aurie found a path!
She's turning into a geocaching star!
Aurie and Jeff tackle the brambles and slip and slide their way the sandy ridge...finally reaching the tree.
Soon Jeff was totally tangled in its gnarled branches, searching every spot he could find.
Eventually, Cindy wound her way around to the other side (took a while to do it!), spotted the cache, and took another 10 minutes or so of wriggling around to actually reach it!
Another shot from above the pit, this time near the tree with the cache. You can see the Olympics off to the west.
