The Puget Sound on a Clear Day June 16, 2003 Excursions to: the Ballard area

Aurie sniffs and searches the shoreline as well. This was one of the lowest tides of the year, so the sand flats stretched out much further than usual.     Click here for a larger version of this photo.

A train speeds on by. The cache was supposed to be hidden in the rocks by the train, but we never could find it. :(
However, we did find plenty to keep us busy. These are small sea anemones buried in the sand.
End of the Road This cache was indeed at the end of a road. The neighborhood sure has a great view of the Olympic Mountain Range.

These locks allow passage between Lake Washington and the Puget Sound. It's really fun to watch the boats go through.   The water draining through the pipes is to facilitate salmon passage.
