Caves & Bushwhacking

Excursions to: trails on Cougar Mountain

Fantasy Adventure

We started off on an old road, parts of which must have been red brick at one time. We saw old red bricks off to the side of the road, and we even picked up an old piece of coal (this used to be a coal mining area).

Jeff standing in front of cool tree roots. New trees often grow out of old stumps, and when the stumps disintegrate the roots are left standing tall.

There were some neat blue snails on the trails.

This was waypoint two -- a locked gate over the mouth of a very deep coal mine. Cindy is standing in front of a benchmark.

Here's Cindy brand new GPS, next to the benchmark.

We headed off to try to find the next benchmark, but after some bushwhacking with no luck...we turned back.

I e-mailed the cache hider for some info, and we'll be back to finish this one soon! There are many caches in this ultra-large wilderness area, so we'll probably be back quite often.
