A Few Quick Caches Between Rain Clouds, part 2
November 9, 2002
Excursions to: residential areas, a cemetery, and a river walk
The Wind Cries, a visit to a gravesite
This was a virtual geocaching experience, leading us to the gravesite of the "Are You Experienced" guitar master.
Unlike Bruce & Brandon Lee's gravesite, there is no monument here....just a simple flat stone with items left by fans. Of course, in other places around the city, there are statues and exhibits honoring Jimi Hendrix.
We left a small quartzite stone (for a big rocker) from Wyoming.
North Cedar River Trail, next to a river full of salmon, at the bottom of Lake Washington.
We set the timer and posed for the camera. You can see the south end of Lake Washington behind us.
The microcache was beneath this bench. The poem on the plaque here reads:
Life is a Trail. It can teach us to see if we will look. We must choose the path with the mountain in view, but always being aware of the trail at our feet.
We were right behind the huge Boeing plant, across from a small landing strip. Small planes kept landing while we were there, and it was fun to watch them.
Below the plane, you can see where the river meets the lake.
This is the river looking southward, away from the lake.
There was a nice view, even if all of the mountains are hidden on a stormy day like today. Off in the distance you can see the high-rises of Bellevue.
We watched a couple of salmon cavorting around in the river -- they kept slapping their tails and pointing their snouts up out of the water.
We weren't fast enough to catch the salmon in the act, but you can see the leftover ripple here.
