Excursions to: Hunts Point, above Lake Washington

Do the Commuter Wave

This geocache took us to a neighborhood park near the Evergreen Bridge (one of two bridges that crosses Lake Washington).

Jeff and Aurie are shown at the start of the trail (that went behind the playground and up on the ridge toward the highway).

Jeff checks his coordinates as we near the cache.

Cindy waves at the traffic camera for which this cache was named.

Check out the Puget Sound Cameras and Traffic Flow, to get a sense of why it's important to have these on the traffic-laden highways around Seattle. The one we were near is on 520 (see the middle of the map), the 92nd NE camera just before crossing the water.

Jeff grabs the cache (down near the road). This would be a pretty noisy, stinky geocache most days, but on Sunday it wasn't bad.

The cache in its "hiding" spot. The best protection for this one is its proximity to the traffic.

After finding the cache, we drove around the Hunts Point area to see the fancy homes. Most of them aren't visible from the road, with their huge security gates and winding drives. We did catch glimpses of some of the mansions, most of which look down over Lake Washington.
