Minis & Micros

Excursions to: Small Parks and Bus Stops in and around Redmond

Act Your Age, microcaching next to a daycare center

This was the first of several microcaches for the day. It can be really hard to make these out.

We didn't take many photos, since we were mostly searching phone booths and benches in bus stops. :)

There is no exchange with a microcache, just signing the log (which was a tiny piece of rolled up paper).

Microstop #1, by Dr. Imso Evil, from a series of truly evil microcaches in public places

The microstop microcaches get more and more difficult. #1 is hidden in a tree next to a large bus transit depot in Redmond.

You can just barely make out the small cylinder that Cindy is pulling from beneath bark and wood chips in the crevasse of this tree.

Cindy removes the tiny lid from the purple cylinder.

We also attempted Microstop #2 (bus stop in Bellevue), but didn't find it the first time around. We went back the next weekend, after thinking things through, and found it right away -- a small piece of paper hidden in the middle of the phone book in a phone booth!

With Microstop #3, we haven't been so lucky. We've found the first clue which led us to another bus stop, but even after searching on two different occasions, we've come up empty. Our only consolation is that seasoned geocaching veterans are also having a hard time.

After those tough microstops, finding the microcache clue from the Micro Multi Cache was easy. We'd been working on the many stages of this for several weeks, and this was one of our last clue stops. Next week, you'll see the final stop with the actual cache.

We've had to go back a couple of times for this one, since it's located next to a very busy soccer field. The clue was hidden in a film canister behind the cement stands where people sit to watch the games, and we couldn't get near it.
