A Weekend of Quick and (mostly) Easy Ones
November 23 & 24, 2002
Excursions to: Small Parks and Neighborhoods to the South of Seattle
Micro Multi Cache, Finally Finished!
It took us 4 weekends, but we finally found all of the microcache clues (7 of them) and worked out the puzzles...which led to the final cache.
A large tree is uprooted here (you see the big "wall" of its underside in front of Aurie).
Jeff clambered over to the other side and found the cache, which was full of neat things (no cheap kids toys in this one!). We grabbed a CD of world music, left one of Jeff's mystery CDs. We also took some silly cat magnets and left a pocket translator.
Pipe Dream, washing out in a steep and wet ravine
Okay, so we didn't actually find this one, but it was a pretty spot and we took some photos.
We had to slip and slide down this steep slope covered in wet leaves. Cindy waves from below...
...and then turns back to shuffling down.
We came out at a large water pipe, surrounded by rocks in fencing (perhaps to keep erosion at bay?). Jeff looks up at Cindy standing on one of the piles.
Even with the clue, photos, and knowing that we were at exactly the right spot...we couldn't find this one. Several people mentioned that they almost dropped the cache into unreachable spots, and we're worried that might have happened. We'll keep an eye on it and probably re-attempt later.
Seekers Birthday Cache, a park in Kent (to the south of Seattle)
This was a fun one, mostly because we met a very nice family of geocachers. We just followed them right to the cache. :)
Ahead of Cindy, you can (sort of) make out the red and black jackets of thebuggybanker, hawthorn,, and travelteck.
ClarkPark, in a more rural setting (Kent)
We then headed to our last cache of the day, only to run into our friends again. They were searching for a spot to leave a cache and didn't even know there was another one in this park. We passed on the coordinates and then headed off to search for it.
We paused momentarily at a pretty duck pond along the trail.
We found the cache beneath one of several holly bushes.
Squeaky Cache, by Adrian (a 5-year-old's first hide)
We drove to a nearby geocache this Sunday, just for a quick find and a place to leave our latest travel bug.
Bertie Bott's Bag of Stubs, is a fun travel bug we created. Check out the link to see its goal.
