Two Caches at Twin Lakes Park, part II
November 30, 2002
Excursions to: a park near Smokey Point (north of Everett, Washington)
We found the Backward cache!
This had to be the coolest hide -- the people actually cut out an opening for the Tupperware container. The log was rolled right over top of it, so it looked like a piece of wood on the ground.
Cindy struggles to open the tight-fitting lid.
Haiku Duck, another interesting hiding spot
This time the hider dug out a hole, placed the container in it, then covered it with leaves and twigs.
Jeff looks through the contents. As part of this cache, finders are asked to contribute Haiku poems.
Here's Jeff's Haiku:
I am no Poet
Ceci n'est pas une haiku --
Where is the season?
And Cindy's:
Brown leaves on the ground
kept us raking for the cache --
Fun with Haiku
Aurie loved this park -- she got to run on lawns and through leaves, go sniffing in trees and brambles, and even ended up running across a shallow stream...over and over again.
Cindy and Aurie head back to the car, walking down this nice lane of trees along the lake.
Jeff took this shot of the two lakes. In the center, you can see the small stream that joins them together.

A close-up shot of that stream. Do you see the log that stretches across?
We watched a dad and his son slip and slide and get wet feet. Then it was Jeff's turn to attempt the log -- he slipped and ended up with wet feet (and wet pants up to his knees).
Cindy knew she couldn't do it, so she found a stick to use like a cane and help her balance as she slowly made her way across -- no wet feet!
There were quite a flock of Canadian Geese on one of the lakes (the other was full of ducks).
Cindy heads into the setting sun.
We drove home as the sky went gold then pink over the mountains. By the time we got back to the Seattle suburbs, we were shrouded in fog. It's a good thing we enjoyed the clear skies while we could!
