Colonel Ebey's Memorial
Excursions to: a beach and the prairies above it, Whidbey Island, Washington
Colonel Ebey's Time Capsule, a beach with staircases up to the prairie above
A nice overlook before we got to the geocache location (the arrow marks the spot where we were heading).
A beautiful vista -- you can see that the clouds are beginning to pull back. Beneath those clouds are the Olympic Mountains (we only caught glimpses of the bottoms of them that day).

Looking to the north, at the Strait and the beach below.

A sign marks the start of Ebey's Beach and the Bluff-Ridge Trail. You can see that the foliage here is much more sparse and dry.
Aurie sniffs around the beach before we head up the staircase and trail.
A view across the Strait from the top of the bluffs above. Note the prairie grass at the edge.

A beautiful, clear vista across the fields and prairie. There is work being done to preserve the prairie, and a Nature Conservancy area behind us.

You can see some of the (currently dry) prairie beyond Jeff -- this is the Nature Conservancy area.
Jeff searches for the geocache (which was actually on private land, with approval). We eventually found it in a thin cylinder behind a post.
