3 City Caches

Excursions to: a Cemetery, a Soccer Field, and a City Park

Enter the Dragon, at a Seattle Cemetery

Our first geocaching adventure was in a cemetery near downtown Seattle. The geocache coordinates led us to the grave/memorial for Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee.

The cemetery is in a beautiful spot on top of the hill...looking down toward the lake and toward the sound.

There were several groups there, so we just took a photo of the grave and of the GPS coordinates (as proof we found the virtual cache).

The hardest part of this was trying to get back to the freeway.

With old and twisting roads, exits that went north but not south, and our general lack of familiarity with the area...it took us longer to that than anything else during the day! But, the neighborhoods were beautiful, and we got to see a new part of the city.

Cache of Evidence, a Geocaching Mystery

Our next stop took us to Kirkland (just west of Redmond). We parked at a set of soccer fields, with lots of young kids being cheered on by their parents.

We ended up in the wooded area behind them, along a trail that looked down over railroad tracks.

The cache was hidden in a hole at the base of the trunk (see the yellow circle).

Jeff pulls out the cache while Aurie looks on (you can see her nose at the bottom of the photo).

The side of the ammo can has this outlined body because it's part 1 of a mystery!

A group of geocaching friends had a mystery party last spring, and afterward they left the evidence in this box (along with the usual toys & logbook).

We collected specific pieces of evidence from photos and other things left by the partygoers.

Then Jeff made some calculations based on this, and we were able to continue on to a second geocache.

Apprehended!, the Mystery is Solved

Cindy finds this geocache.

Once again, it was hidden in the hollow at the base of the tree. We were in the wooded part of a large "Lawn Park" in Redmond.
